The getkval() function is erroring out for some reason. Is the monitoring core running as root?

Please note that when I originally ported the monitoring core to Solaris, it was developed on versions 7 through 9 and I can't make any guarantees that it will work on earlier versions (although anecdotal evidence suggests that it does).
