Hey all,
I don't know if this is even possible with ganglia. I THOUGHT I
had this working before but now I'm not sure.
Here's sort of what's going on.
N N N N N N

======================== N are production servers
|
|
O O is the batch cluster master
|
|
================= M are batch cluster cruncher engines
| | | | |
| | | | |
M M M M M
I can create a cluster I can view from ganglia by putting gmond
on all the N nodes and a gmetad/rdd/httpd on one of them. Works
great. I can do the same thing by putting gmond on the batch nodes,
M, and gmetad/rdd/httpd on the O batch master node. I have to tell
O's gmond to use eth1 because that's the side the batch engines are
on. Sparately they work great.
Now I'd like to make a grid. I'd the the N side gmetad to get
the information from the O side gmetad and display a grid such that I
can see either cluster, the N side or the M side, from one We page.
As I said I though I had this working once but not I'm no longer
certain. I've seen what appear to be examples of what I want to do
from the examples listed on the ganglia Web pages. But I'm having the
devil's own time making it happen. I have another batch cluster I'd
like to monitor as well.
I can't get the O cluster to give its data to the N side gmetad.
And yes I've defined the N node in the O node's gmetad.conf as a
trusted host. They are talking but that cluster only shows the data on
the N side of things not the M side, which I thought it used to do
and which the examples seem to be showing it should be doing.
Help would be greatly appreciated about now. Thank you.
