Hello Ganglia folks, I wonder if you would be so kind as to answer some queries regarding the wide area scalability approaches you mention in your paper: "Wide Area Cluster Monitoring with Ganglia".
I am interested to know if the approaches you describe in your paper are part of the current Ganglia release, or if not, when you would expect them to be. In particular: * N-level monitoring tree with summaries and pointers to remote cluster gmetad * Simple-query engine: What support is present? You mention a path-like syntax in your paper. Has this evolved to regular-expressions yet? * N-Level tree: Do child gmetad transmit cluster data to their parent periodically, or do the parents pull data from the children periodically? Who initiates the transfer? *Do you have an automated approach to synchronise the time periods that gmetas transfer data in the tree? Or are the periods configured locally at each gmetad? * Are you close to providing a more dynamic way of adding child gmetad's into the hierarchy? Many thanks regards Garry -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Distributed Systems Group University of Portsmouth Portsmouth, UK, PO1 2EG URL: http://www.dsg.port.ac.uk/garry E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Office Phone: +44 (0)23 9284 5827 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
