Dan-
I had the same problem with a group of RH9 systems on my 2.5.7 system. (only about 1/3 were recognized) As odd as it sounds, my solution was to change the multicast address to another value:
# The multicast channel for gmond to send/receive data on
# default: 239.2.11.71
# mcast_channel 239.2.11.71
mcast_channel 224.0.0.144

As soon as I changed all the systems gmond.conf and restarted the daemons, every system was recognized.

It's one of those "But I want to know _WHY_" situations. When I posted this back on 6/14 nobody responded with a why, but a some asked me to post a reason if I ever find out.
Can anyone here explain why the mcast_channel value makes a difference?

I hope this solution works for you.

Hello All
I am running Ganglia 3.0.1-1 on a 90 Node Linux Cluster Beowulf style.

I have an issue that is driving me nuts.
I have the same gmond.conf file running on all 90 compute nodes.

But, when I run the gmetd front end it appears to see only half of my
cluster..ie 45 nodes.

The way I hoped to get around this was listing several ip addresses for
the gmonds that could be polled for information. So I put in the IP
address of every 10ntth compute node as my "data_source"
When I do this the gmet frontend still only "sees" 1/2 of the compute
nodes.
Now and then it will "see" all of the compute nodes, but this is quite
rare.
How do I fix this apparent problematic gangila behavior?

Thanks!
Dan Roberts
