Resolved the problem
For my Macs w/ dual NICs, I set up the gmond.conf to read mcast_if
en# (where # refers to 0,1,etc.. for whichever port it is supposed
to talk out)
Note that this is under 10.3.9.
On the machine that was having a problem, the computer was using en1
for its normal LAN traffic but for some reason, gmond was appeared to
listen / talk on en0, but by setting mcast_if to "en1", it now works...
