Hi Jones,

I'm running the 64bit 2.6.9-22.0.2.ELsmp kernel for x86_64 on a dual Opteron,
and I'm not seeing this issue - for what it's worth.

Subject: [Ganglia-general] multicast group dropping out in RH4

I have a cluster I am moitoring with Ganglia 3.0. Recently I upgraded all the
hosts in the cluster to RH4. When I add the two latest computers into ganglia
the entire group drops out. I noticed a kernel version difference between the
computers.

working nodes with RH4: Linux NODE1 2.6.9-22.ELsmp #1 SMP Mon Sep 19 18:32:14
EDT 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

non working hosts with RH4: Linux cela166032 2.6.9-22.0.2.ELsmp #1 SMP Thu Jan
5 17:13:01 EST 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Here are the notes from the RHN Errata:

 - a flaw in network IGMP processing that a allowed a remote user on the
local network to cause a denial of service (disabling of multicast reports)
if the system is running multicast applications (CVE-2002-2185, moderate)

anyone else experiencing this issue? Any ideas on a workaround other than
downgrading

my kernel?

thanks,

Jones
