Hi Mark,

 as others explained, what you are using is a reliability feature of
gmetad. It will contact the first IP adress first, and only if there is
no answer it will try to talk to the second IP adress. The asumption is
also, that both alternatives carry the same information.

 The possible solutions have been explained already. Is there any
logical separation in having the two sets of nodes on two VLANs? If
yes, I personally would treat the as two separate "data_sources".
