Rafael, Be careful that your metric only sends numbers. In some versions of ganglia, if your script that reports the gmetric accidentally sends letters instead, Bad Things(tm) happen. I wrote a script to parse the output of 'who' to count the number of logged in users, but I did it wrong. Occasionally it got a word instead of a number. This caused unexplained metric-loss throughout my gangila installation. A newer version of gmetric fixed this problem, but it is a good place to start looking.
