All the BSD and Solaris 10 include a native toolchain which uses gcc
(different versions of the 3.x series depending on when they were released)
and so the compiler version is implicitally defined by the OS version.

For Solaris 9 SPARC, which doesn't have a native toolchain with a compiler, I
used gcc 3.4.4
