I've found that sometimes gmetad updates certain RRDs and not others if it encounters an error with one RRD. It seems to have a consistent order it processes them all in, so the ones that fall after the error don't get updated. Usually when this happens it logs something to syslog (/var/log/messages or equivalent, depending on syslog.conf).
