confirming the response from many people on this list, I use iostat -x as well. While the gmetric plugin library was down (is it back up?) I created http://ben.hartshorne.net/ganglia/ which includes two crontab-ready shell scripts to grab different bits of data from iostat and stuff them into ganglia.
