Ganglia is not using a lot of processing power or network if that's what you
are asking.

I wouldn't call it light-weight, though things can be done to reduce the
issues like was mentioned.
Perhaps hooking up collectd which is supposedly lightweight (getting that
2nd hand, haven't benchmarked it myself) and writes rrd files, to the nice
interface of ganglia would be a good solution if there were infinite
resources to do such a thing.
