Does anyone have a method for monitoring Linux Multipathed Devices,
created by multipthd and dm?

An iostat will just show the DM and not the actual alias.

Would like to monitor IO via the Multipath alias name.

Example would be:
>From /etc/multipath.conf asm01 is created:
        multipath {
                wwid                    1HITACHI_D60090910032
                alias                   asm01

multipath -ll show the dm-6 that it "really is"
asm01 (1HITACHI_D60090910032) dm-6 HITACHI,DF600F
[size=32G][features=0][hwhandler=0]
\_ round-robin 0 [prio=1][active]
 \_ 0:0:1:32 sdm 8:192 [active][ready]
\_ round-robin 0 [prio=0][enabled]
 \_ 0:0:0:32 sdb 8:16  [active][ready]

But for IO stats to really mean anything need io info graphed against asm01.

an iostat -x will just grab the dm-* and doesn't know about the
multipath alias.

Also the dm-* names change between reboots...

Any thoughts, ideas, are greatly appreciated.
