I currently have systems with gmond 3.0.5 reporting to a system with
gmond 3.0.5 and gmetad 3.0.4 (gmetad -V ganglia 3.0.4). I have
upgraded one of the reporting hosts to gmond 3.1.1 and while it
appears as an uphost on the web frontend, none of the metrics are
appearing for that host.
I created a new config file on the 3.1.1 host using gmond --
default_config and then just added a udp_send_channel section to
report to my data collection host.
When I run gmond in debug mode on the 3.1.1 host it seems to be
happy, reports loading modules, collecting data, sending messages...
So, my questions are:
1) Do I have something dorked up, or is it the case that a 3.1.x
gmond cannot report to the older gmond?
2) If I upgrade my "central" gmond and gmetad (the one that the hosts
report to) will I still have the historical data from when I was
running Ganglia at the 3.0.x version? or should I snapshot the data
at the 3.0.x version and expect new data files (RRD files) under 3.1.x?
Thanks,
Kristy
