Hello all. I am very new to Ganglia, and I'm hoping some kind soul out there can help me with some problems I'm encountering upgrading.
I am trying to use the perzl.org AIX RPMs to upgrade an inherited ganglia install from 3.0.7 to 3.1.2. I have all the prerequisites that were listed or that rpm asked for. I've updated the configuration files. I seem to have two problems going forward. Problem 1 is that the new gmond seems unable to read the new metric library files - I have 49 lines in syslog every time it starts of the form "Unable to find the metric information for 'foo'. Possible that the module has not been loaded." I have checked that the libraries are world readable and executable, and that all directories in the path are, too. The config file has full pathnames to the library files, and they are even spelled correctly. I have found a few references to these errors in the archives, but nothing seemed on point. Problem 2 is that gmetad does not update any rrds. I have only updated the metad server - originally I had believed from the release notes that a 3.1.x gmetad could read data from both 3.0.x and 3.1.x gmonds and so had the old hosts and the new one running together. After running into problems, I found in the archives that it can't read them at the same time, so I have tried both just the old and just the new hosts, and have the same problem. Does any of this look familiar to anybody? Thanks to all for your time reading this.
