For the sake of completeness, I rebuilt libconfuse 2.6-1 from Fedora 9, installed it on CentOS 4.x i386 and was able to build Ganglia 3.1.2 against it without any problems. So there shouldn't be any issue with building Ganglia against libconfuse 2.6. Ivan's issue has more to do with compiling libconfuse 2.6 using gcc 4.3, I believe.
