Is there a reason gmond will insist on reporting as 127.0.0.1 and
localhost.localdomain and not the actual hostname?
I'm running Ganglia 3.1.2 on two servers running RHEL5.3. Originally the
second was imaged from the other so they should be pretty similar. I've
built gmond and can start it on both of them.
On one server I issue telnet 127.0.0.1 8649 and in the response I see:
<HOST NAME="tstweb1.pulseenergy.com" IP="192.168.0.31" REPORTED="1258745319"
TN="16" TMAX="20" DMAX="0" LOCATION="TST" GMOND_STARTED="1258745319">
But on the second server when I issue the same command the response I see
is:
<HOST NAME="localhost.localdomain" IP="127.0.0.1" REPORTED="1258757030"
TN="9" TMAX="20" DMAX="0" LOCATION="TST" GMOND_STARTED="1258757030">
I'd like to have the FQDN appear on the second machine so people using the
web interface will be able to identify the second machine. I've tried
troubleshooting and see the following results on the command line:
> hostname
tstweb2.pulseenergy.com
> hostname -s
tstweb2
> dnsdomainname
pulseenergy.com
Any guidance on what is not configured correctly? From looking at the
mailing list archives it seems gmond can not be configured to use a specific
hostname. Does this boil down to the return from the apr_gethostname call
being the issue?
