I am working on getting gmond 3.1.1 installed on several FreeBSD 6.4 servers and I am getting the following errors after installing packages I created out of the /usr/ports tree:
# gmond -d 99 /usr/local/etc/gmond.conf udp_recv_channel mcast_join=239.2.11.71 mcast_if=NULL port=8649 bind=239.2.11.71 tcp_accept_channel bind=NULL port=8649 udp_send_channel mcast_join=239.2.11.71 mcast_if=NULL host=NULL port=8649 Unable to collect metric 'heartbeat' on this platform. Exiting. The interesting piece is the packages work on about half of my servers and do not work on the other half (those failing generate the above message). I've checked MD5 checksums of the library files required to run gmond and I cannot find any discrepancies. I am looking for suggestions as to where I should be looking next.
