Using the new method (no gmetric or cron needed), there seems to be two ways to go about it; the python way, and the C/C++ way (not sure about this one at all). The python way is very straighforward, with simple tutorials like: http://tech.xlab.si/2008/10/writing-custom-python-metric-modules-for-ganglia/
My installation however did not come with Python support of any kind however, so I'm missing modpython.so (which seems to be the key to making all the magic happen). Q1: What would be the latest Ganglia-Python rpm compatible with Ganglia 3.1.7, architecture x86_64, and distribution CentOS 5.3 available that you know of? Q2: Do we really need external config files to do this? Or can we just use gmond.conf for all the config stuff mentioned in the tutorial? Q3: Also I'd like to know how to do all this using C/C++ instead? I can't find any straightforward tutorials explaining that one...
