Hello list,
In a multi-node cluster we are collecting data from a variety of nodes
running different versions of gmond (2.5.7, 3.0.5, OS provided
versions), with the data being collected by 3.0.7 gmetad. This worked
fine so far.
Now we are trying to replace a cluster node with an OS
that provides a 3.1.2 gmond, and have created
a new gmond.conf using "gmond -r gmond.conf" from
an old 2.5.7 config.
We have verified that the collector machine running gmetad has
access to the tcp-Service of gmond on that new cluster node (i.e.
we get the xml file back) and also that this gmond broadcasts appears
its usual udp multicast packets.
But our 3.07 gmetad still shows the node as down, debuglevel 2 in
gmetad.conf shows that no data from that 3.1.2. cluster node
is being processed.
Now my question: Should this setup work in principle
(i.e. is further debugging a worthwhile option) or would
we have to replace the ganglia version on the collector
server that runs gmetad by something more current, so
that a combination of 2.5.7, 3.0.5 and 3.1.2 gmond's
can feed that gmetad correctly.
Any hints would be much appreciated.
Sorry for the vagueness of this question, but I "inherited"
this Ganglia setup and have only a cursory knowledge
of running Ganglia.
Thanks & Best Regards,
Thomas
