I did build from source because I have a, ahem, challenging environment 
to deal with that is not stock vendor anything. It's opensuse11.1 plus 
stuff.

Perhaps I can try to take a look at the latest spec file and divine 
what's different about my setup from the rpm based. But given that 
mysql.py is being compiled to .pyc when I start gmond and that gmond.log 
has the correct values for the user,host,password, it looks like the 
config is correct.
