I wrote a python module to collect a metric from another host and to present it
to gmond spoofing that other machine. I am running gmond, gmetad, rrdtool and
apache all on the same machine. Version is 3.6.0

I am collecting the metric ok.
I am reporting it to gmond ok (I see it in telnet 127.0.0.1 8649)
I see the metric in /var/lib/ganglia/rrds/osimage/osv1 (although I sometimes
see -nan) using
       rrdtool fetch osv1_InviteMsgsSent.rrd AVERAGE -s-600
This is the ONLY metric being displayed for that machine at this moment. So no
CPU, memory.... Yet

When I go to ganglia web, I see my spoofed machine under the grid/cluster. If I
choose the spoofed node I get this single metric graph but I get "no matching
metrics detected" and I cannot figure out why.

If I do a search, it does showup in dropdown, but selecting that, causes no
graphs at all to be displayed
I noticed that the rrd file was owned by nobody (but ganglia web running as
wwwrun) so I changed permissions on the complete path to a+r, but no help.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated to both -
why am I seeing some -nan values (the collection period seems to be 15
seconds) and is a GAUGE (from rrdtool)
I'm not sure how to change this, unless maybe I should create the file using
rrdcreate first?

Why can I not get a graph

Thanks,
jon
