Hello all,

I've been reading over all of the controversy dealing with the rewrite
of the Reddit website and came across this very overdue collection of
Lisp enthusiasts and I thought I would volunteer my services as well
in this attempt at making Lisp more accessible. With that in mind,
let me just quickly introduce myself:

My name is Christopher Roach, I'm still a fairly recent graduate in
Computer Science and as such do not consider myself to be anywhere
near a high calibur hacker just yet, but I have a definite love for
programming and I am cultivating a newfound love for Lisp as much as
possible. This past summer I took a graduate course in AI and I
decided to use Lisp as my implementation language. I was the only one
that chose to do so, and as such my programs were easier to maintain,
quicker to code, and hell of alot shorter than the rest of the class
(who chose languages such as C++ and Java). Since then, I have found
myself in a bit of a love affair with Lisp and I am looking for ways
to contribute to the Lisp community and hopefully learn quite a bit in
return.

So, Peter, if you have any ideas of work you need done (I'm definitely
only a Lisp newbie at this point), I'd love to participate.
Especially anything related to writing (my recently discovered
hobby--I mainly write for O'Reilly, a few articles here and there and
weblog on MacDevCenter). I noticed on the CL-Gardeners notes page
that you mentioned Consumer Reports which would definitely entail
writing and I would love to contribute to such an effort. On a side
note, I think it might be a good idea to have some sort of Wiki area
where members can come by and contribute to online reviews or perhaps
some type of sign up sheet where a member can choose the topics he/she
wishes to review. BTW, if nobody else has claimed it, I wouldn't mind
looking into some of the GUI libraries (currently I am playing around
with LTK on my Mac) for the Consumer Reports section.

Anyway, my quick introduction is now turning into a novel, so I am
definitely going to sign off. I'd love to hear your thoughts on my
ideas and in the interim I am going to start working on a comparison
of some of the GUI libraries and perhaps start looking into what is
available for databases.

Christopher
