My name is Damond and I've been poking one Lisp-like or another for close to (gulp) 20 years now. That doesn't make me an expert by any stretch...I'm just really good at the 5% of the language I do know. :)
That's what makes Lisp great in my book. You can do some really neat things without having to study the standard, read hundreds of online articles, etc. At it's core Lisp is a language that grows with the programmer instead of forcing the developer to grow up too fast. My first introduction to Lisp was via xlisp on my Atari ST back in the mid 80's or so. I have a seriously hacked up version of xlisp on my PC that contains some Win32 GUI and ADO support. When I got my iBook I went and hacked a version of xlisp to compile on OS X. Anywho I normally use clisp these days. I'm currently playing around with gtk-server. I've been working on a method to deploy Windows based clisp apps w/ gtk-server so that the user simply clicks and icon and up comes the app. Once I get the Win32 GTK stuff registering properly I'll work on an installer (Nullsoft's I think). Then comes the documentation. Damo _______________________________________________ Gardeners mailing list [email protected] http://www.lispniks.com/mailman/listinfo/gardeners
