Are you sure you have the correct setup for your GARNOME startup script (as described in the README)?
It's also strange that you had complaints about hicolor-theme while starting GARNOME. Normally, compilation should have failed if it had been missing.
You certainly have a log of the errors (in .Xsession-errors or something like that). Please attach it here.
As well, it would be good to make sure everything is fine on the build side before you launch GARNOME (what distro are you suing by the way?).

Tried that. But the panel crashes still. Noticed another thing, when I try to create a launcher on the desktop, nautilus immediately crashes. Don't know what the problem is though.
