I'm getting the same behavior on RHEL3.0. Removed all the ~/.* files, removed /tmp/* , /tmp/.* , /var/tmp/*, rebooted, and still no joy on the gnome-panel. It keeps crashing and re-starting.
Is there a way to get more information about errors? I'm not getting a .xsession-errors file at all. j > I'm trynig to migrate an old RH 9 system over to SuSE 9.2.
