Thanks for your bug report!
When compiling you should append
`pkg-config --libs --cflags libart-2.0`
to the command line, and then the relevant files should be found since the base
dir is in the list of the include paths.
For custom applications/libraries, you'll have to place a
PKG_CHECK_MODULES
call in the configure.in or configure.ac file (cf. [1]).
Feel free to reopen this bug report if any existing GNOME application doesn't
compile correctly due to related build bugs.
