Apparently, I am getting some errors even with:

startx $DBUS_LAUNCH gnome-session

They read:

SESSION_MANAGER=local/mars:/tmp/.ICE-unix/4884
mapping method init - connect: Permission denied

(nautilus:4909): libgnomevfs-WARNING **: module
'/opt/gnome/2.16.1/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules/libmapping.so' returned a NULL

Now I looked at /tmp/.ICE-unix and the perms are 1777 and the sockets are
owned by me with perms 0700.

Anyway, for me, I got the gnome apps I need to run running, so this is a
really minor issue. However, from an intellectual standpoint, it's really
curious why preloading dbus-launch won't allow gnome to work, but
executing dbus-launch gnome-session will.

Thanks for the good work!
