Trying to track down my slow compile problems, I switched back to gcc-2.95.3 and got this from LyXView.o The compile time was 3h 11min with 3h user time. With gcc-3.0 it is twice that. Using --with-included-string did not help much. My previously reported "good" compile time of 1.5h was actually 1h 57min, so it has increased by 1h 13min. Top shows only two processes running and the compile using about 95% of the time. I also tried backing up to linux-2.4.9. No help there. Garst
