Last files list question

Alice had a crash in pre4 after some extensive use of the Delete key.
When she restarted LyX she was surprised to not find the file she was
working on in the list of last files. There was an emergency save file.
Sorry I don't have additional info on the crash. What is the policy on
when to update the last files list.
