No real news here, but I installed AbiWord-1.01 on A's machine and started looking a backlog of .wpd and .doc files that had come in e-mails. Awd read them fine, so I tried exporting them as .tex files, .txt, and .html files. Lyx could not import any of them. Not exactly impressive, as they were all simple text documents. The good news is that LyX does import the .doc files. I was looking for a way to handle .wpd stuff. No luck there.
I think this should be a priority for 1.3 Interesting that awd does not have an explicit Import, it just looks at the file and does the right thing. It figured out that Calendar.201 was a wpd file. On, on Garst
