Well, this is a complicated issue. My weed charcoal producer is a loose
variation of a gasifier. But before this one I had a more traditional
weed gas producer and learned all about rat holing. I had to chop/reduce
the weed material for the more traditional gasifier were now I
gasifiy/charcoalfiy the whole bale. Also, my goal is to convert weeds
into a high quality fuel with minimal investment.

No. Because, ultimately, I'll burn the off gas for thermal needs. I'm
not at that point right now but have had some luck converting bales of
weed into charcoal. If or when I'm happy with the charcoal conversion
end I'll work on a burner for this low calorific value gas.

I'm not declaring success at this point just seeing a little light at
the end of the tunnel.
