I am preparing a brief history of biofuels (pre-1950). I can trace biomass
gasification back to 1801, but I have run into a bit of a stumbling block of
the Fischer-Tropsch process using wood or other biomass. I could not find
any references until the 1970's. I found a report from NRC Canada from 1976
that only presented a theoretical analysis of biomass to liquid by FT. Any
earlier references out there? Thanks for your help.

FYI - Once completed, I will be posting the report for all members of the
gasification (and pyrolysis) lists.
