Species has been the subject of much discussion because of the differences in morphology and density. Hardwood vs softwood, etc. Some people who advocated dense pits nuts and shells have swung back to lower density species after a few years of experimentation. Grasses also make good chars so the puffergas will work with switchgrass. Less lignin makes less char. Ash composition vary. You just have to learn the best use of the chars you make.

Agua Das drove a gasifier powered school bus in the early 1980s. After reading about Agua I'm forced to agree with Wayne; "gasification attracts interesting people". What tree species makes the best biochar? Does growing methods affect biochar quality. Thanks, Jeff www.puffergas.com
