Li,

The yellow flame indicates that you have an insufficient primary combustion air
mixing of the producer gas. At the flare, drill six to eight holes below the
elevation of the inlet line of the producer gas. Velosity of the gas will draw
fresh air from the bottom air inlets to pre-mix with the syngas. You will need
a 50/50 mix of air/syngas. This will allow the flare to exhibit a pure blue
flame when the fuel to primary air mixture is correct. If you have too much
air, you can plug some of the holes or install a slide gate damper that allows
adjustment of the air volume. Good Luck

Subject: [Gasification] yellow flame of syngas combustion

 Dear all,

I recently tried to burn the syngas produced by my gasifier, and I just filmed
the burning process (please see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0q7_s0RbHIM
excuse me for my french).

Note that the gasifier is just designed and has been never runned before. So I
was happy to see the flame.

After the experiments, I also found the formation of soot or black carbon on
the surface of the inox tube.

It seems that yellow flame means that the combustion is not complet. Next step
I want to connnect the gas outlet with a bunsen burner in order to control the
rate of the gas with the rate of the air.

How you think? whether this is possible to favorite the complet combustion or
not?

In fact, this is the first time that I burned my syngas, so I wonder whether
the yellow color indicates the quality of my syngas not?

Welcome to any comment.

Kind regards,
