Robert, Be careful if you are going to try this. Carbon fuels and oxygen are explosive. There is(was?) a local Maine company called Maine Micro Furnace that was trying to use oxygen in a furnace.
http://www.mainemicrofurnace.com/ They were claiming temperatures around 5000F. This is WELL above the melting point of steel. I'm not sure why going to these temperatures is advantageous or why burning pure oxygen is cheaper than air and a heat exchanger, or why anyone would want to battle the hot corrosion and max. use temperature issues, but it has been tried. They told me they had some pretty spectacular "BOOMS!!" I thought it would be a good idea to mix this oxygen gas with exhaust gas in a certain proportion to heat the gas going in to gasifier. I think it would be a plus if we add some extra hydrogen and oxygen gas produced by electrolysis, made by wind or other energy sources. What we are trying to do is just get better quality gas from the gasifier, and better gas with less wood chips or biomass? Any experiences somebody can advice, before getting oxygen tanks and trying the outcome, that would be very helpful.
