Oh they ended up having a good game yes and I know
how I sound. however..

*         13 Penalties.  THIRTEEN!!!! That
probably already makes us the most penalized team
in the country.. again. That will be our Achilles
heel if Meyer & Co don't nip it in the bud. 8 of
those in the first half.. although one of them was
ridiculous (the unsportsmanlike thing is way WAY
too much... I still don't see what he did that was
so bad. So basically that means our boys cant even
do the chomp with Gator Fans.)

* We should have EASILY reached my goal on
offensive yardage and probably would have had they
not been asleep the first quarter. Even without
Harvin.

* Tebow did not have his best game.. lets
face it.

*         Uhhhhhhhhhh... Johnny Brantley?  *knock
knock* I know. first snap in the college game.
etc etc. but he looked totally lost and
overwhelmed. Maybe that will change as the year
goes and he gets more reps but as of right now.
totally unimpressed.

Since I sound so bitter and negative.. Ill tell
you what I did like:

* You are right... less Tebow more of
everyone else like we have been screaming about.
Will that hold up the rest of the year? We will
see.

* Overall.. the team did look better than
they did last year. I will give them that and
even this Hawaii team was better than that WKy
team.

* James/Demps/Rainey.. it 'appears' UF has
some backs. and I still think Brandon James is
maybe the second coming of Emmitt (ducks and
runs).

* Cam Newton ... was SO proud of him.. he
finally woke up and stepped up. Hopefully we'll
make good use of it.

*         6 turnovers by the D -  2 led to
defensive TDs. Obvious improvement if it was
Hawai'i.

* Based upon what I am reading about
comments made below about the Miami game... I
think UF has some swagger and hunger back. I love
it.I just hope they can live up to it, but they
need to be careful with that.

I will restate what I said early Saturday....
this is a year of NO EXCUSES. D has a year under
their belt. Tebow shouldn't have to bear the
brunt with all these playmakers around him. Am I
expecting a NC? Would be nice.. but no. Not
happening this year. I do want to see them in the
Dome though against Auburn and extract revenge. I
do want to annihilate those damn mutts and send
them home crying/whimpering and wishing they had
never even heard of the sport of football.

Call me unrealistic if you want. but I said it
here before. I am FIRED UP.

Come in off the ledge Woody. We scored 56 points
in two quarters of play,

can't complain about that. Yes, we started slow,
but once we got into

rhythm, we never looked back.

I liked what I saw. The 'bows had success with
the shovel pass early on, we

adjusted and shut that down for the most part. We
had a lot of penalties,

but most were the over-aggressive type, I can
handle that. We saw many new

young faces get game experience, that is always
good, and no one was

injured, that is great!

All of this and we didn't rely on Timmy, had no
Percy and Siler was gone on

D. I would grade this performance a B+ or A-,
based solely on the sluggish

start.

Oh great... a team giving Miami bulletin board

material when they were controlled by a sub par

Hawaii team for an entire quarter.

You would have thought they learned about doing

that with Bama... remember that?

They better live up to it now!

Florida Gators cruise past Hawaii

BY JOSEPH GOODMAN

Attention, Miami Hurricanes: Florida beat Hawaii

by 46 points on

Saturday, and its two best players didn't play a

snap.

Attention, Miami Hurricanes: Florida junior

quarterback Tim Tebow is

ready for this rivalry week to commence. He called

out ''The U'' on

Saturday shortly after the Gators' 56-10 victory.

Florida plays host

to Miami in six days, and Tebow is ready for the

Canes' six-game

winning streak against the Gators to end.

''We're going to change that,'' Tebow said.

Attention, Miami Hurricanes: Florida senior

receiver Louis Murphy has

something to add.

'I don't refer to them as `The U,' '' Murphy said.

'Because `U' stands

for university, and we're the real university.''

And with that, the first week of the college

football season is

officially over, and the real season begins. Tebow

is predicting a big

crowd.

''We'll probably have 80 percent of the state of

Florida here next

week,'' he said. ``[ESPN's] GameDay will probably

be here. It will be

hype. No matter how good [Miami] played teams last

year or whoever

they play the rest of the year, they'll play their

best game next

Saturday versus us.''

BIG-PLAY DAY

No. 5 Florida (1-0) spoke with confidence Saturday

after dispatching

Hawaii (0-1) with one big play after another --

despite not having its

most electrifying player, junior receiver Percy

Harvin. He is still

recovering from offseason heel surgery but could

see action next week.

Hawaii held Florida scoreless in the first

quarter, but after that the

Gators wowed a crowd of 90,575 with an array of

highlight-reel plays.

Six Florida touchdowns came on plays of at least

32 yards, including a

74-yard punt return by junior Brandon James in the

second quarter.

Although UF coach Urban Meyer referred to James as

the team's player

of the game, the defense was the collective star.

The unit played

without its leader, middle linebacker Brandon

Spikes (toe), but still

looked better than it did in 2007. The Gators

forced six turnovers,

including four interceptions.

''It's great having those guys out their making

big plays,'' Tebow

said. ``It's great to see.''

Florida scored 28 points off turnovers. Safeties

Major Wright (Fort

Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas) and Ahmad Black

returned interceptions

for scores. Wright's interception, a 32-yard

return in the second

quarter, gave Florida a 14-0 lead.

''It felt real good,'' Wright said. ``That was my

first time ever

getting into the end zone on defense.''

MAKING HIS CASE

Black, who started in place of Dorian Munroe

(Miami Coral Reef), had

two interceptions, returning the second for an

80-yard touchdown in

the third quarter. It gave Florida a 56-0 lead and

validated Black's

role as a starter. A third-string cornerback in

2007, Black was

elevated to starting strong safety when Munroe

sustained a

season-ending knee injury in July.

''We got a lot of pressure on the quarterback,''

Black said.

Although Hawaii's quarterbacks took a pounding,

their counterpart,

Heisman Trophy winner Tebow, breezed through

Saturday's game barely

breaking a sweat. His final statistics were

nothing compared with the

gaudy numbers he had on a weekly basis last

season.

Tebow finished the game with 137 passing yards and

one touchdown. He

rushed for 37 yards on nine carries.

''I didn't take too much of a pounding,'' said

Tebow, who saw his

streak of 14 games with at least one rushing

touchdown end Saturday.

``I don't think I'm sore, so I can go condition

now.''

And get ready for Miami.
