This morning in Rotary several members were expressing glee that SOS got
his at the hands of the Vanderbilt Commodores. I almost responded and
realized I didn't have a dog in the fight. :-)

"The reason we love SOS so much (among others) is that he tends to do
and
say what WE would do and say. Why does he do this? Because he IS one of
us!"

============================================
Kevin,
This is from the Mississippi Coast Sun-Herald: ( I have just taken
pieces of
it)
Spurrier true to himself
Ric Flair, the "Nature Boy" of professional wrestling fame, was on the
field, whooping it up for the cameras. The Florida fans who caught
Flair's
likeness on the Jumbotron got in on the act, and before long, Steve
Spurrier
did, too.
That is, humiliate the opposition.
That's just Steve. That's why it didn't come up in the somber MSU
interview
area after Saturday's game. If nothing else, Steve Spurrier is not a
phony,
and he's a helluva football coach. With six SEC championships and the
1996
national title to prove it.
================================
As a Gator fan who saw his first game in 1952, I have a longggg memory
of
getting whipped. I love Spurrier for putting it to them! My buddy says
that one of these years some of these SEC teams are going to pour it on
us,
but I hope I will say, "let it happen, I have had my fun." Of course,
it
might not ever happen. Spurrier is one of us and he understands.
J Fran

By the way, I love the twist to scoring one for Clay Carter, a Florida
senior equipment manager from Cottonwood, Ala., who was injured last
yearvin
the wild celebration at Starkville.
Ron Higgins of the Commercial Appeal in Memphis already has come up with
a
spin on Carter's pre-game speech, when he implores the Gators to get
tough
and "win one for the Equipper."
