I woke up this morning and the sun hadn't come up! Ok, it was at 5:30
and at 6:30 the sun actually rose. I was stunned.

That being said, we should all sit back and survey the actual damage
from yesterday after getting over what we're all feeling emotionally.

The sun came up this morning and the season is still on!

When we, the Gators, won the NC in 2006 we lost one game. We lost to a
western division team that was playing poorly. We won out the rest of
the season and we all remember the thrill of victory that January.

No, we shouldn't "open up the offense". We should go back to the
basics. Do what brought us here. Play like... well, play like we did
in 2006. Our offense was conservative. Our defense was great and we
beat every other team but Auburn by an average of 10 points.

We've fallen to 12/13 in the polls. We haven't eliminated ourselves
from the SEC east. We can win out and go to the NC game where we'll be
slaughtered by Ohio State... or so they may think.

Most of all we on Gatortalk should stick together and not rant on and
fight with each other about our poor team. We have a great team that
had a let down after a very difficult and emotional game with Tennessee.

Ole Miss may have won, but they have to go back and live in Mississippi.
Any one here want to do that? They've reached their program's zenith
for this season.

Now that that's over we will only improve.

Tebow sorry, promises better days

BY DAVID JONES
FLORIDA TODAY

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow was emotional after the fourth-ranked
Gators' 31-30 loss to Ole Miss on Saturday and before leaving the
interview room sent a message to Gator followers.

"To the fans and everybody in Gator Nation: You know what? I'm sorry,
extremely sorry," a misty-eyed Tebow said. "We were hoping for an
undefeated season, that was my goal. It's something Florida has never
done here. But I promise you one thing. A lot of good will come out of
this. You have never seen any player in the entire country play as hard
as I will play the rest of the season."

It was Ole Miss' first win against a ranked team since a 20-13 win
against No. 3 Notre Dame in 1977. The Rebels, who hadn't won an SEC road
game in four seasons, ended a 15-game losing streak to ranked teams.

Tebow came into the game without a rushing touchdown this season, after
becoming the first player in NCAA history to rush and pass for 20
touchdowns in a season a year ago. He managed a pair of 1-yard scores
against the Rebels, but was held to seven yards on 15 rushes against the
Rebels after picking up 166 on 27 attempts in last year's game in
Oxford.

He still hasn't thrown an interception in his last 183 attempts,
however, which is the fifth-longest streak in SEC history.

Stunned silence

Florida cornerback Joe Haden said the locker room was beyond just a
little quiet after the defeat.

"You could have heard a pin drop," he said. "There was nobody talking,
nobody saying anything. People were just sitting at their lockers in
full pads. . . . We're going to keep fighting and try to finish off our
season undefeated."
