Initially, he came in only on obvious running downs because he was , as a freshman, already a better (faster, stronger, tougher) runner than Leak. He only began passing the ball when defenses sold out completely to stop the run when he was in the game, and even then, he ran much more often than he passed, and if the game was still on the line Leak would be back in. Unless either Cam or JB have something they can bring to the table that Tim can't, the way Tim brought something that Chris couldn't, then I stand by my opinion (and right now I don't believe they are ready to hand over the primary passing duties to JB or the primary running duties to Cam since Tim has shown the ability to do both rather well). Of course the only opinions that ultimately matter on the subject are Mullen's and Meyer's... --- On Mon, 10/6/08, Gatorrrrrr <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: From: Gatorrrrrr <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [gatortalk] Re: The Future To: [email protected] Date: Monday, October 6, 2008, 2:43 PM Im gonna have to disagree with you a little on that Steve... Other than the Auburn game... Tebow took snaps in games, like LSU and I think UGA too for example, and probably more snaps than the two back ups now have taken combined so far since Tebow was the starter. Besides being completely gifted... That may be part of the reason Tebow was so prepared to take over last year. I dont think they are ready to do 3rd down conversions or anything like that... but they can certainly let Tebow come out on 2nd down... let him catch his breath and gameplan with Meyer/Mullen and come back in on 3rd ( or preferably 1st but hopefully short On 10/6/08, Steve McKibben <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: If Tebow ever misses a single down in a close game for any reason other than injury, whomever is responsible for that needs to have their head(s) examined. You get your backups "training snaps" in games that are already decided and/or against vastly undermatched (e.g. Western Carolina last year) opponents. IMO of course... Steve Well I dont mean to go in and stay... I mean to go in.. for one play or so as like a change of pace kinda thing... obviously we want Tebow to be in... but that doesnt mean he should have to play every down.. Plus.. speaking of the future... we want the backups to start to get reps in big games to get them acclimated.
