We are currently ranked 4th in the BCS, but in fact are at 3rd because if we beat bama, they move below us. That leaves Texas Tech and Texas above us. If TT loses to OU, we move to #3 this week and #2 after the SECC. If TT wins this week, we have to wait until probably the SOW game, possible till the SECC to jump UT. Remember, we are #3 already in the coaches and Harris polls that make up 2/3's of the BCS. Our problem now is with the computers who have us anywhere from 3-6. But we have one fewer game than UT, so by the time we get to SOW , that will work itself out and we will jump them.
So we don't have to worry about rooting for anyone in particular, it makes no difference if bama loses to the Aubbies, if SOW loses to the turtles or who wins the OK-TT game. If we win out, we will go to Miami.
Now, the really interesting scenario is if we win out, who do we play? What if the Big 12 South winner loses to Mizzou in the Big 12 CG? What if Oregon State beats Arizona and Oregon and wins the Pac 10? That would mean that none of the top 5 would be their own conference champion. Would Penn St. get back in the mix? How about Utah?
I personally want to see us go against an undefeated TT or one-loss Texas. The Big Televen has had a lesson in SEC defenses the past two years, it the Big 12s turn.

Question:
What is better for us? For Texas Tech to win, or Oklahoma?
If Texas Tech wins, obviously they stay ahead of us. If Oklahoma wins, do they jump us?
I am leaning toward thinking that it might be better not to have an undefeated TT team in front of us, even if Oklahoma might jump over us in the BCS, but I am not sure. Also, if Oklahoma were to jump us, there would be an even stronger argument that Texas should be ranked ahead of us as well, since Texas beat Oklahoma.
Assuming we win out and beat Alabama, are we guaranteed a spot in the BCSCG, or just almost assuredly guaranteed a spot? Let's not take anything for granted. Also, if we do make it, who would we rather play? What is our best-case scenario?
Anyway, not that it matters, but I am looking for guidance on who to root for this Saturday.
Go Gators!!!!

Subject: [gatortalk] Re: BCS rankingsI was REALLY hoping we would jump Texas since they struggled with an unranked team and we demolished a ranked one. I figure we'll lose points this week with the Citadel and needed that jump. Well, maybe we'll jump when we beat f$u.Randy----- Original Message -----From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]Sent: Monday, November 17, 2008 4:47 AMSubject: [gatortalk] BCS rankings
