I always figure if a gator takes a swing at an opponent, he is retaliating for something we didn't see.
Of course, I also like your suggestion of the player throwing his face into our player's fist. That happened to me a few times when I was in the navy. I'd be standing there in a bar minding my own business, and then some guy would just out of the blue start hitting my fist with his face.
