Tebow will win a second Heisman; maybe an incomprehensible third.

The regional Enormous 12 votes for Oklahoma-mamas and the Tex-asses will be
hugely local and, therefore, split. The rest, including some from Tex-Tech,
will go mainly for Tebow.

And, he isn't leaving prior to 2009-2010.

Florida is undoubtedly the best team in the country

December 7, 2008

Florida is undoubtedly the best team in the country: Considering Florida's
dominance over the last two months coupled with a gutsy win over an
undefeated Southeastern Conference power such as Alabama, Florida deserves
that distinction right now. Yes, ahead of anyone in the Big 12. And to think
Percy Harvin
<http://www.orlandosentinel.com/topic/sports/football/percy-harvin-PESPT0085
07.topic> will be playing in the national title game to possibly punctuate
that point. "Jan. 8 when we play in the national championship, I'll release
all the frustration," said Harvin.

Florida was one three-and-out from falling flat on its face: If you watched
the entirety of the third quarter, you know what we're talking about. The
way 'Bama attacked the Gators
<http://www.orlandosentinel.com/topic/sports/football/florida-gators-ORSPT00
0172.topic> during a 10-0 third - especially on a 15-play, 91-yard drive
that lasted almost 7 minutes - Florida desperately needed a spark. Remember
that the Gators, down 20-17 to start the fourth quarter, were short a yard
after a third down when Alabama got called for a horse-collar tackle on
running back Jeff Demps. Automatic first down for the Gators, who
capitalized with a 1-yard Demps run. Florida doesn't get that break, 'Bama
might have turned that momentum into a 27-17 deficit and put the game out of
reach.

Tim Tebow
<http://www.orlandosentinel.com/topic/sports/football/tim-tebow-PESPT008528.
topic> now has a legitimate shot at a repeat Heisman Trophy: The Heisman
voting is largely stat-driven, but Tebow might have positioned himself to
reverse that trend. The numbers of Oklahoma's Sam Bradford and Texas' Colt
McCoy might loom too large for Tebow to surpass, but his leadership and
clutch play over the last two-plus months have been unavoidable. Tebow
completed 14-of-22 passes for 216 yards and three touchdowns along with a
team-leading 57 yards rushing. Forty touchdowns on the year? Not bad.

The game showed Florida's running attack still needs a little help, but the
weapons seem endless on this team: Despite this being a grind-it-out game
with 'Bama imposing its smashmouth style often, the Gators had trouble with
consistency in the power game. The Gators placed reserve running back
Emmanuel Moody into the game in the fourth quarter to find a spark of some
sort. Alabama did a terrific job getting to Tebow early in his running
strides and not allowing one rush of more than 14 yards. But how's this for
depth - Florida won with touchdown catches by three guys who aren't even
primary receivers. Riley Cooper starts but mostly as a blocker and
occasional target, while David Nelson
<http://www.orlandosentinel.com/topic/politics/david-nelson-PEPLT004808.topi
c> and Carl Moore have been functional at best all year.

Alabama will be scary good for years to come: Florida Coach Urban Meyer
<http://www.orlandosentinel.com/topic/sports/football/urban-meyer-PESPT00853
5.topic> will enter every season from now on with Saban's Tide breathing
heavily behind him. 'Bama has an identity, a tough coach and a defense that
almost contained one of the country's best offenses on a national stage.
Freshman wide receiver Julio Jones (five catches, 124 yards) might become
one of the SEC
<http://www.orlandosentinel.com/topic/economy-business-finance/market-exchan
ge/securities/u.s.-securities-exchange-commission-ORGOV000050.topic> 's best
receivers of the last decade when his career is over.
