Have any of you stopped to consider that with SOS's knowledge of offensive football and his insights to the game, that maybe, just perhaps, he thinks OU deserved to be ranked #1. I don't like the fact that he voted the way he did, but he has always been an honest person and that is the way he sees the ranking. ----- Original Message ----- From: Gatornet Admin To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, December 09, 2008 7:48 AM Subject: [gatortalk] Re: Coaches' Ballots
My point is exactly that. Forget Steve for a second. Why do some coaches play
with their vote and vote for friends, likable guys, alma mater, etc?
I mean, if they considered the facts (or stats), looked at the comparison of
playing in the Big12 as opposed to playing in the SEC, margin of victory, etc,
and then REALLY thought that Okie deserved to be #1, then fine. But, to vote
Okie #1 simply because Stoops is a golfing buddy, a former hire, a nice guy, or
just deserving, is just bull.
Before anyone gets the notion I have a problem with being #2, let me assure
you I don't. I just feel that education is a marvelous thing, when utilized.

SOS is VERY loyal to his friends. Stoops was a Spurrier hire and led the
defense to our first national championship in 1996. He's also loyal to his
alma mater.
I think he is going to loose on this picking order, however. UF is going
to beat Oklahoma.

That's what I figure, too. It's a shame that some will vote with their
hearts instead of their head.

Well duh... they're golfing buddies! Urban should take up golf and make

Importance: Low
Spurrier was the only SEC coach that didn't vote us #1 - he had
"Stoopsie" above us...
