The burglary is the part that we don’t really know about yet. From all that was
initially reported, the only thing we actually know is that he was in
possession of the stolen laptop and that he tried to ditch it after the police
saw it (stupid!). They will need additional evidence to move forward with the
burglary charge that he was the one who actually took it. Frankly, if he did
just buy a stolen laptop (I don’t believe for a moment that he didn’t know it
was stolen), then I could see him working his way back onto the team
eventually. If, on the other hand, he did actually break into the room and
steal it himself, then he shouldn’t be allowed back. At least in my book, there
is a big difference between a moment of weakness where you really know better
(psst, wanna buy a laptop cheap?) and planning and carrying out a serious crime
under your own initiative. If it turns out that he did the latter, then he
needs to follow Hornsby off to Ole Miss.

If Cam ends up being charged with a 2nd degree felony - burglary of an occupied
dwelling - he will not be eligible for pre-trial diversion. If the SA agrees
to drop it to a 3rd degree felony, he *might* be eligible - but that is far
from guaranteed.

I'll be surprised if he is reinstated.

I do. Everything we had read about Cam before this was super-positive. He
comes from a good family and I remember Urban talking about him as one of the
guys that does things the way they are supposed to be done.

Now, did he do something stupid and illegal - probably. Will he be reinstated,
don't know, but I think he will have a long list of conditions and if he can
fulfill them, he can earn his way back on.

We don't know the whole story yet. It could have been as simple as Cam bought
a laptop cheap, not 'knowing' it was stolen. Police knock on the door and Cam
freaks and tries to hide the evidence. Stupid choices and naive thinking, but
an experience that valuable teachings can come from. Or, he could have broken
into the apartment, took the laptop and was the sole instigator involved. For
that, he will be in big trouble. Bottom line, it is his first run in with the
law (that I am aware of) and through pre-trial diversion, etc. he will be back.

What he has lost by doing this is an SEC ring, potentially an BCS ring and he
has made it that much more difficult to ever beat out Johnny for the starting
spot.

Do you really think Cam will be reinstated? I haven't heard anything new since
he was kicked off of the team.

I was really impressed with Marve during our game with them. I thought he
showed a lot of poise and incredible athletic ability.

Having said that, I don't think UF is the place for him. First, he is in the
same class as Brantley - both are redshirt freshmen. If he cam to UF, he would
have to sit out his sophomore year, then would have 2 years of eligibility
left. Meanwhile, Brantley would have one more year of situational experience
or, god forbid, as start should Tebow leave. If Marve can't win the starting
job at UM, what makes him think he would win it here?

Second, I am not sure Marve would fit in with Meyer's philosophy. He has a
reputation as something less than the 1% of the 1%, never met him, don't know
him, but seems like he has enough baggage for us to not want him. Also, much
of his current situation at UM has been brought on by his father. Apparently,
his father was totally PO'd that his son had to sit out the first game as a
suspension from an incident that happened last year. This has created turmoil
all season and has resulted in his son asking for a transfer.

When you have parents involved, it usually isn't a good thing (see - Portis,
Mustain and now Marve), unless of course the only time you see or hear about
the parents is when they are in the stands cheering.

I can't see UF taking him. We have Tebow, hopefully, for one more year. Then
you will have Cam who would be a senior and Johhny as a junior. I think we
would have more valuable uses for that scholly.

I was asking myself the same question. Doesn't he have either negative
disciplinary or academic baggage? I must admit, I don't really keep up with
non-SEC players.

Would Florida WANT him?
