OOPS! Did I forget to mention that I am planning on "phantom" emailing him
using YOUR email address? ;-)

I think I'd wait until we get a sizeable lead. I'd hate for Bene to have my
email address and then lose 45-3. :-)

Oh yeah... Email is good to go. I will be very busy on my PDA during the
game, but I will keep it "friendly". :)

Actually, Lynn has no idea what Gatornews is, so he wasn't replying to
ANYTHING. He saw where we had 750 members, subscribed to Gatornews and
immediately fired off his "flame attack" without knowing that ALL
subscribers of Gatornews are moderated. There are only a handful of
"reporters" who are unmoderated, but everyone else has to be approved by me
or Jerry before their post is sent out to the list.

Of course, not only did I not approve his post, but I banned him. Then, I
sent his post out to Gatortalk just to show everyone an example of some of
the stuff that Jerry and I block them from receiving. Of course, MOST of
what we block is porn and SPAM, so Lynn was a mild example.

FWIW, he never subscribed to Gatortalk. He went for the largest audience.

Anyway, it light of this information that you have provided, I'm going to
recommend that we DO NOT TEXT BOMB his phone as planned. If we prevail, and
you want to send a FRIENDLY jab at the end of the game, I think that should
be ok, but NO FLAMES during the game, ok? His post, although uninvited and
from the "enemy", was still "friendly" per se.

Brian, you might want to warn him that he made a mistake in flaming us and
that we are as rabid as it gets. Teasing us is akin to playing with a full
grown alligator and then being surprised your hand was bitten off. ;-)

Bene "Lynn" Benedict is a very good friend of mine who went to OK a few
years back. He resides now in the same community I do in Michigan just
south of Grand Rapids and officiates high school football and basketball
games. Last month he had some knee surgery, however, so I don't think he
officiating bball currently. He got me involved in football officiating,
too, and I have enjoyed doing it for three years now. We both belong to the
West Michigan Officials Association, which has been the home of some very
elite college and NFL officials as they progressed up the officiating
ladder.

Recently Lynn was laid off from his job at the local high school due to
budget cuts. His position was to work with kids who were too sick to go to
school but well enough to keep up with their studies if they could be
tutored at home. I had never heard of such a service (free, too), but 2
years ago when my daughter was experiencing a series of panic attacks, she
had to miss three months of school and "Mr. Benedict" came by 2-3 times per
week to assist with her studies. It is a shame that had to be cut from the
budget this year.

I'm sure Lynn's interest in Gatortalk is just to have a good time...I don't
think he's run across anything quite like it or Gatornews... Most likely
he's just responding to the posted "barbs" I've tossed his way lately.
Please be kind with your comments and enjoy the fun...especially on Jan
9...I believe he really thinks the Sooners are going to win...!!!

Brian Hicks, aka "michigangator," deep in enemy teritory and still
surrounded by (especially sad this year) Big 10 foes...
