Not listed, but a national award like that should be enough. I don't think it matters, he'll surely get a couple of those next year. What's the record for interceptions by a linebacker? That should be something he's closing in on among others.

I looked it up. Five years out of UF. The Chevrolet award is not one of the ones listed under the defensive player of the year requirement. For a player or coach to merit consideration for induction into the Gators Football Ring of Honor, at least one of the following criteria must be met. In addition, the individual must have been departed from UF for at least five seasons, and he must be in good standing with the institution. Criteria to Merit Consideration * Heisman Trophy Winners (Spurrier, Wuerffel) * Former UF All-Americans Inducted into NFL Hall of Fame for Accomplishments as Players (Youngblood) * Former UF All-Americans Who Are NFL Career Category Leaders (E. Smith - rushing) * Collegiate Career Category Leaders * Coaches with UF National Championships (Spurrier) * Coaches with at least 3 UF SEC Championships (Spurrier) * Players with 2 or more consensus All-American honors (AP, Walter Camp, Sporting News, AFCA, FWAA, UPI) who have also been named National Offensive/Defensive Players of Year (AP, Walter Camp, Sporting News, ABC, AFCA, FWAA, UPI) On Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 12:14 PM, Oliver Barry <[email protected]> wrote: Hmm... that makes sense to me. Spikes was the Gators' defensive leader during Florida's title run, racking up 93 tackles, including 52 solo, as he helped lead UF to its second BCS national championship crown in three years. Spikes intercepted four passes in 2008, returning two for touchdowns. All four of his interceptions came against top-25 opponents, which tied for first among all players nationally and was the most by any linebacker.
