The site Teebows.com has improperly used the University of Florida's marks by posting Tebow's photo along with a Gators' official logo. The Collegiate Licensing Company, which partners with UF, has sent a Cease and Desist letter to the web site's owners.Most companies comply once notified, and a ramification for not obeying could be legal action. A Florida spokesman said copyright infringement against the school is a regular practice . The Sentinel left a message for Debbie Gay, Florida's licensing manager.Attempts to cash in on Tebow's name are commonplace, from independent T-shirts printed across UF's Gainesville campus to random web sites such as Teebows.NCAA licensing laws are stringent. UF can't post Tebow's name on Nike signature football jerseys .Even Tebow's own fundraising efforts don't attach his name. A recent powderpuff charity football tournament on campus involving Tebow sported the headline "1st and 15" instead of his name.Tebow returned to school partly under the stipulation that he could raise money for Uncle Dick's Orphanage in the Philippines, which works closely with the Bob Tebow Evangelistic Association run by Tim's father, Bob. None of the fundraising goes to Tim himself or Bob's ministry, only Uncle Dick's. The powerpuff event was part of a week of close to $300,000 worth of Gators fundraising for Uncle Dick's that the NCAA approved under Florida's request.“It probably made the discussions easier with the NCAA because it was Tim Tebow," said Jamie McCloskey, the compliance director for Florida athletics.
