Woody, you're the biggest idiot walking on two legs. Well, you said to let you have it! :-)
Now, all kidding aside, I would be disappointed with anything less than an undefeated season with a national championship. We're returning 19 of 22 starters from last year. We're also returning the potential greatest football player ever. We should be great. We have 2 natural leaders on the team, one on offense the other on defense. We have younger players stepping up to take over if/when any of the starters go down. I don't think Mullen's leaving should pose much problem. I think the new qb coach will be a help to Timmy. Percy is gone. I just watched the Alabama game from last year. We suffered defensively in that game because we were playing the number one team in the country at the time. Alabama was motivated! It seemed the crowd was a little bigger in their favor too. But, we kicked their butts! We didn't dodge a bullet there. We came from behind with a quarter to play and just outplayed them. Oh yes, Percy was gone then too. There's talk about wide receiver being doubtful. That's just not a problem. We have plenty of receivers available to get the job done, Aaron Hernandez being the top guy going in. Brantley would be the starter on any other team in the SEC this year, including Ole Miss. The whole Ole Miss speech by Tim was partially because the team's goal was to go undefeated, a previously unattainable goal. So. I'm looking for UF to be nothing short of Undefeated National Champs! Okay... So I am feeling a bit curious about where everyones feelings about the upcoming season which is only just over a month away. What are your expectations for the 2009 Gators? Would anything less than another appearance for a National Championship mean the season was a dissappointment? Or would they have to win it all? Or would they have to go undefeated (like we KNOW Tebow and Co. really really wants). Consider this... Pros - the majority of the Defense returns for another season. So far no serious injuries keeping anyone from playing (that I have seen). - Charlie Strong is still a Gator (till O'leary is fired at UCF) - Tebow, a crucial piece (experience, leadership, etc etc), is back and so far as we know.. healthy.... - Spikes is back, most experienced player and crucial leader on the D... He'll be important to identify and build others up to fill that role in the coming years. - (Fill in the blank) - (Fill in the blank) Cons - Mullen is gone... and we have a New offensive coordinator.. however, he has been in the program as our O-line coach. Yes... I know they all game plan... but can he make the necessary snap adjustments when/if the situation were to call for it? I guess time will tell... Meyer trusts him or else I dont think he would have put him in that position. - We have a new QB coach ... who is working on Tebow and his throwing motion. We will see if this is a help................. or a hindrance. I know its to (partially) help Tebow prepare for the NFL (and to really develop Brantley) Im just worried about not letting Tebow... be Tebow. Im just concerned about how Tebow is adjusting to the changes. - Percy is gone... who's gonna be the leading rusher/receiver? I dont think we can risk an injury to Tebow should he get injured. We need him near or at 100% the entire season. I think Meyer and Co learned a valuable lesson about that in 2007. Demps, Rainey, James, Hernandez and Co all seem ready to step up and be Tebows back up. We will see. - Lots of good talk about Brantley... but a) Is he really gonna be healthy enough... and b) if he is and something happens to Tebow... is he ready to take over the reigns. Only more playing time will show us that. - (Fill in the blank) - (Fill in the blank) Since Im used to it...
