One question. Some sportswriter said there would be a backlash, I assume in the
press, against Tebow this season. What's up with that?

What are your expectations for the 2009 Gators?

I'd (obviously) like to see them run the table and repeat as champs.

Repeating, let alone going undefeated, let alone being a wire-to-wire #1, is
a rare thing:

You are almost assured to get everybody else's best shot.

You may or may not get some of the timely bounces/calls going your way.

Complacency can creep in.

That being said:

We have a ton of talent returning - a lot of it that rarely if ever even saw
the field last year. Players are hungry and are pushing each other for
playing time and starting assignments.

We have great returning leadership. That and the fierce competition for
playing time should help to alleviate complancency concerns.

The schedule is as conducive to an undefeated season as we are likely to
ever have.

So...expectations? I'm always somewhat disappointed when the Gators lose. I
don't know if they'll win them all, end up on top, or even make it to
Atlanta. There are so many things that could derail the season - injuries,
suspensions, and things we don't even want to think about.

I think there's a very good chance that this team can accomplish all of the
goals in front of them. If they don't, I hope that they go down fighting.

Maybe it's the creeping realization that I don't have an infinite number of
years left to enjoy being able to see the Gators play, but as tightly wound
as I get during the games, and as depressed as I get after a loss, I'm
finding myself just enjoying the all too short seasons as they pass, so I
find it hard to label one a failure.

Of course I'll have the added bonus this year of being able to visit my son
on campus when I go up for the games, and to see him marching and playing
with The Pride of the Sunshine!

But, if you're asking for hard predictions? The first fully undefeated
season in Gators history, back to back national championships, and a second
Heisman Trophy for Tebow.

Why not?

Steve M.
